Hello Everyone:)

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? We went to three flea markets this weekend! Yes three;) I wanted to share some of the finds that I brought home.

 You have heard me talk about my favorite flower guys before. They never dissapoint me. This week I bought Sweetheart Roses and put them into little containers all over the house. I love this color.

 This is an old sewing cabinet. One side is gone but I liked it. It is covered with fabric and has great glass knobs.

 It is in my livingroom for now. Not sure if it will stay here;) See the side opens?

                 I fell in love with this ' Victorian stick basket'.

 I filled it with tin flowers and placed it on top of some gardening books.

 Canning trophy! LOVE this!!!! I actually bought this a few weeks ago but didn't post it. Have I mentioned that I am going to attempt to can this year? Do any of you can? Is it easy? My grandmother used to do it all of the time.

 A couple of weeks ago I introduced myself to Lisa of Serendipity Chic Designs. She was surprised that I recognized her from her blog. We really hit it off and are becoming friends. She is very sweet, as is her adorable family, and ever so talented. Check out her blog. She is always doing something creative. She only lives about 25 minutes from me so this could be so much fun:) I have bought some of her wonderful creations. The above 'cafe' sign was perfect for my kitchen island.

And I LOVE this vintage sign made by Lisa too. The mercury glass ornaments , ironstone platter and flowers are also flea market finds. I will show you some of the other things I got from her pretty booth in future posts.

WALL PAPERING THE LAUNDRY ROOM

Hi Everyone:)

How is your week going so far? Mine is busy, busy, busy:) Yesterday I had off from work and decided to wall paper one wall in  my laundry room. It is the wall you see when you look into the room. Don took the door off of the room for me. I had a silly idea that if it was open it would stay neater. It usually works...not so much this time. But now, since I love what I see I am confident it will;)I had painted the walls a while ago a deep shade of pink. I ordered the wall paper on line and was so happy to see that it matched perfectly.

This is the counter that we put in there. I am supposed to use it to fold clothes but you know how that goes;) Empty counters are soooo over rated;) I see a counter and think, awesome space to decorate.
This is the wall paper I used. I LOVE it!!!!!!! Of course, everyone in my family has said to me "Don't you already have that paper?" "Uh noooooo" Geeez! I do love flowered wall paper. When I wall paper I usually only do one wall. Except for the kitchen. Happy roses are everywhere!

                 I used lots of architectural pieces and chippy tins in this  room. See that tiny iron? Isn' it cute? After I snapped these photos I rearranged a few things but you get the general idea of where I was going with it.

                       I put my antique wooden school house lockers in the laundry room. Great storage! And I love the way they look:)

                             Here are some of my chippy tins that I hung.

                           Roses in the laundry room????Heck yea!!!!!! Every day is a special day even in the laundry room;) Can you tell my favorite flower guys are back at the flea market. I was so happy to see them. Not only are they great guys they have the most prettiest flowers. These roses are gorgeous! They are called Amnesia.

          Oh and yes, I do have birds in my laundry room:) They are Cockatiels.  They 'cat called' me all day and I just love them.

Today I will be cleaning my kitchen because in this house if I am working on one room the other ones look as if they were ransacked;) lol

THINGS THAT MADE ME SMILE TODAY

Hello Everyone:)

Hope your day is full of smiles. As I looked around today, I saw so many things that make me smile. I thought I'd share. I had more photos but for some reason blogger wouldn't let me upload them. That didn't make me smile:)

 Meet Sunnee. He is a blue and gold Macaw. I have had him since he was a baby, when I used to own my pet shop. I had to hand feed him with a huge syringe. He was supposed to be for sale in my shop but I fell in love and  the rest is history. He talks quite a bit. I just love him and he makes me smile daily:)

 LOVE, love, love plants and statues. I love the way they look, the way they smell and I even enjoy watering them.

 Beautiful Birthday flowers:) They make me and my kitchen smile:)

And speaking of the kitchen. My kitchen makes me smile. Even when it is messy which is daily;) It is bright and cheerful and where everyone seems to gather.

Hi Everyone:)

I hope you enjoyed your weekend:) It was cold here but we did enjoy it. We went antiquing and I bought a table that I have been looking for, for a while. I am going to paint it and will show you before and after photos this week. ( hopefully;)

Let me just say THANK YOU to Don for fixing my laptop. He took care of the 'blue screen'. He just called me a "blogging maniac" for the first time in over a week. That makes me feel so cozy;)lololo

Last weekend Nicole and I did an Antique Show in Winsted CT. It took place in a beautiful school. This is the school that has farm animals!!! We did this show last year if you remember. Wish they had schools like this when I went. Being that is was in the gym there is only so much you can really do to dress it up for one day. I wish the shows were two days. It takes everyone so much time to load and unload their wares and then set up for one day. And we really enjoy doing them and meeting so many great people. We have a nice following too which always makes me smile.

So I wanted to share some of the things we brought.

                                           Vintage clothes.

Great black chair, top hat and pretty pillow.

 Vanity just jam packed with hand mirrors, brushes, girly things, market bags, jewelry.........

 People know us by our mascot "Big Mama". She is on our business cards etc. We always dress her up and you can see her from across the room. When we first bought her we were going to sell her but fell in love with her charm so she is part of our team now:) Beneath her are baskets of jewelry, purses, pins etc. Also a basket full of pillows on the floor.

BLUE SCREEN

Hi Everyone:)

Just wanted to let you know that I am still here;) My laptop has a strange blue screen on it after not even using it for 2 days. How does this happen? Don is working on it so hopefully it will be up and running soon. Hope you are all having a wonderful week. We are getting SNOW AGAIN!!!!! Hope you are all having a great day! The sun just came out!!!!!!!! That makes me so happy:) You have no idea.

 I am also happy to report that Nicole, Manuel and the girls were able to move back home. They have been cleaning up from the flood and decorating as if they just moved in. Nicole is thrilled with the results and told me she hasn't felt this creative in years. Their home looks so pretty and I am going to do a post on it.
 It was fun to have them here. We shared lots of laughs and fun and even the stomach flu;) Eeeewww ..really. The girls can laugh and run around nonstop all day. I wish I could bottle up some of their energy:0

 So.... it is back to blogging.  Have you gotten your roses yet? Suzan ,of Old Grey Mare Primitives creates these beauties and they are a must. She has them in other colors too:) I am either going to put them on a top I am making or on a pillow.Hmmm... I just may have to order more....

 I purchased this fabulous sign from RU PIPER DESIGNS. Isn't it great?Now all we have to do is hang it;) They sell many different kinds of signs and other things. Don and I are going to London and Paris this year so I am hoping to see many of the places on this sign. Check them out, you'll be glad you did. I
OK.......Look at this gorgeous, to beautiful to just put on a gift, yes I am being stingy, tag!!!I am going to put this into a shadow box frame. Cindy from Whimsical Musings Magazine surprised me with it:) Look, she even put a 'D' on it!  And I love the ribbon. She is a talented artist and features artists and other lovely blogs in her on-line magazine. Stop by to see her and say Hello from me;)

At 2:00 a.m. I HEARD HARPS....

.....harps because that is the ring tone I selected for Nicole's phone. One never wants to hear their phone ring at 2:00 a.m. Sleepily I answered "Hello" and on her end she said "Mom, we are being evacuated" "The Firemen and Police are here and our house is flooded."(They live on a river) "OMG come here." "OK". Her kitchen had about a foot of water in it and there was no stopping it. I put the outside lights on and waited and waited but they never showed up. Then I got another phone call from Nicole telling me that our street was flooded and the water was running directly into her yard, house. She lives right at the end of our street directly across from it. They were not going to let her chance coming here. She, Manny and the girls had to sleep in the Firehouse all night where they set up cots for them. Can I just say right now how WONDERFUL the Woodbury Firemen are!!!!!!!! All of the streets that lead to our street were blocked off because they all have bridges that run over the river.

 They were able to come here after the water started to recede.

Thankfully everyone is just fine. They are staying with us for now and it is crazy but I like it;) On top of that Don has been in bed with a stomach flu, poor thing. The cleaning up has started and Nicole said she is thinking about redecorating now that she is starting over again:) Oh, and everyone on her face book was happy that she saved the 90 cases of Girl Scout cookies that we had picked up last weekend:) Gotta look on the bright side:)THESE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN after the water receded..

NO, that is not a lake!!!That is a huge beautiful field where the kids play,people walk their dogs and crops are grown. It is across the street from Nicole's house. The water had crossed the road.

The currents from the water were so strong that the car was washed off of the road right in front of the house. It must have been so scary for the driver. It had to be hard to get out of the car without being swept away too.

I am very grateful that things turned out the way they did. It could have been a lot worse. Possessions can be replaced, loved ones can't and that is what matters in the end.

WEEKEND FUN

 Hello Everyone:)

How was your weekend?
We  had a busy one.  Meet the O'Gradys, our BFF's.

 That is Michael, Sarah, Robin, Erin and me in the back. A while ago Robin called to ask if we would be interested in doing a Shamrock and Roll 5K.  I said yes right away....then I asked Don;)  He said yes too. It took place in New Haven, CT. What a beautiful city, filled with the most gorgeous buildings and history. Don't mind the horns on Michael, he always dresses like that;) lol Actually, see all of the green. People get dressed up for St. Patricks Day, some in full costume, to come out and run.

There were over 1600 entries, mostly runners, some walkers. We were walkers. It was our first 5K. Michael, Erin and Sarah ran. Don and Joe, (not pictured but Joe is the cutest 9 year old ever,) walked and ran ahead of us. When Robin and I would run to catch up to them they would run up further. Finally, we just let them go as we had lots to talk about and that was taking up valuable chatting time;) By the middle of the race it started to rain... then pour...hard. lol We were so wet. I can't wait to see what the photos look like of us crossing the line. It really was a lot of fun. Next year I am going to run it and keep Don in the dust;) Cause that's how I roll. Oh and Michael came in at 24 minutes. He's the man!

It was also Maci's 3rd Birthday this Sunday. We went over Nicole and Manny's house for cake, Red Velvet Cake. She is just so cute. (Can you tell I'm the Grammie, or Mia to Maci)She was so shy while we were singing Happy Birthday to her and didn't know to blow out the candles.

She received 1 toy for her birthday and all the rest were clothes. Her favorite thing to do ALL DAY LONG is to change into different outfits. She wears a skirt every day. Even if it means wearing it over pjs. She picks out all of her own outfits. I think we may have a little fashion designer one day:)

And for the rest of the night I kissed THESE PINK CHEEKS!!!!They are the absolute best cheeks to kiss. Fibi is 1 1/2, but thinks she is as old as her sisters:)
