FUN AT THE FLOWER FARM

Hello Everyone:)

Are you enjoying the Spring so far? I am taking avantage of every nice day we get. It has been very rainy here but yesterday was gorgeous:)

Yesterday Maci and I hit the flower farms and did a little shoppin'.

 This was the first greenhouse we went into. Love Geraniums! They had many.

 Impatience? Oh Yea! They came home with us.

 We strolled down every isle of every greenhouse to pick our very favorites.

                         We stopped to smell the flowers.

                    We picked out our favorite colors.

 Mmmmm Mmmmmm I'm in Heaven:) Just look at all of those yummy colors!

 Maci was the best helper. This is what we came home with from the first flower farm. It's a good thing I have a truck;0

These flower farms are an hour away but well worth the ride. Great selections and prices too:)

CHANGING THINGS UP

Hello Everyone:)

What have you been up to? I have been doing a good thorough cleaning of the barn. I want to get it done because when the weather stays nice I want to be out in the garden:)And with cleaning comes changing things up. You know how that goes;)

I finally put some vintage books and metal flowers under my old cloche. I found a silver tray that fits it perfectly.

                                       I am happy with how it came out.

 Also washed ALL of the slipcovers. It was time to put on my flowery, ruffly slip in the solarium. I bought this one a couple of years ago from Surefit Slipcovers. I haven't seen any other ones with ruffles since then but wish they would carry them. They are just so pretty don't you think?

Living in a barn means that every little critter from outside finds its way inside. And the fact that we don't have screen doors and I leave the big doors open for fresh air doesn't help. We have had mice, snakes, flying squirrels, birds and gray squirrels. They must have heard that I used to own a pet shop;) You would never believe all of the birdseed I found under my sofas and chairs! The critters: CHIPMUNKS!!!!!!! Oh, they come in and eat my birds' food while sitting on the pond watching the Koi. When we make eye contact they chatter at me and run for cover. The cat is so used to me bringing home pets she doesn't even go after them. The dogs on the other hand chase them.  But living with so many pieces of furniture they are able to hide so I have resorted to a nice medley of poison. Sorry PETA people but I just can't take their disrespectful chattering  and their digging up my plants not to mention the seed that they leave everywhere.  But I digress.

 I bought this millinery flower with bows at the flea market. Don't pass them up even if they are all wrinkly. Just put them over the steam of a tea pot and you can actually watch them curl back into shape like magic.

                      Cleaned the library too. Books get  dusty too.

 Of course I always have company. I love doves and will always have them. They are the sweetest birds. I love their happy coo:)

 Green rosy pillow with another pillow I covered with a pretty white vintage pillow sham. They work well together.

 I always buy little books. Dictionaries, Bibles and Poems are three of my favorites.

 I found this vintage table at the flea market about 3 weeks ago. I have been looking for one to put my houseplants on for my living room  window. This one is perfect.

                            My granddaughters love this typewriter.

 These pretty pillows were actually used for putting women's nightgowns in. I stuffed them and use them as pillows.

 You know how much I love architectural pieces. I used these two little ones as book ends for some small books.

 This is the old desk where I keep my collection of small books.  The cubbies are just the right size.

                                       Love this window . Potted plants in vintage McCoy pots. Next room that will get done is the kitchen:) Are you getting all of your major cleaning before the nice weather starts? Tell me all about it.

WHATS BLOOMING TODAY?

Hello Everyone:)

How is everything with you? Well, our weather has gone from rain, gloomy and cold for weeks to sunny and warm in the 80's.  I love it!!!!!

I was walking through the gardens today to see what is blooming. I saw happy butterflies and hummingbirds! How exciting!!!!!!! Isn't nature beautiful? Give me a sunny day and I 'm a happy soul:)

 Even our little plump Sophia is happy. As soon as the weather becomes warm she is up early and in the garden all day. She slept all Winter long.

 Love these little pink flowers. Different shades, soooo pretty.

 Don loves Tulips so I planted these for him. What a great color combination, don't you think?

                                     Yea, my succulents are waking up.

 Of course, there are always flowers inside. Gerber Daisies are one of my favorites.

 Nicole and I had some fun the other day photographing some of our Vintage Prairie Slips for ETSY. Love this one.

                 They look great with cowboy boots.

 Vintage millinery flower with jewel pins added for extra bling. Look at the gorgeous lace.

 Here Nicole wears our Prairie Slip with leggings and boots. So fun!

Hope things are starting to bloom in your gardens. I check every morning and actually watched our Cherry Tree bloom! I just love this time of the year where everything wakes up after a very long winter. The leaves on the trees get bigger every day and there is always something new to discover.

Have you walked around your yard to see such an amazing miracle? It will make you happy and put a big smile on your face. I know it does to me:)

WHITE WEDNESDAY AT NICOLE'S

We were over Nicole and Manny's last night. Part of Nicole's computer had been ruined in the flood and Don was helping her out. So while he was doing that and Nicole was giving the girls a tubby I went around her house snapping photos. SShhhhhhhh;)  What? Doesn't every Mother do this?
 I just love her style. She can make anything look like art.
