A VINTAGE CHRISTMAS

Hello everyone:)

As promised, here are some photos from our shop MAISON ST. GERMAIN. We have been decorating for Christmas. Yes, already;) This way we can enjoy the shop and when it is time to decorate our own homes we won't be stressed. We are even playing Christmas music. At home I don't decorate until the day after Thanksgiving. But in retail it is different. I don't really mind though. Christmas is such a beautiful holiday. The meaning of Christmas and all of the decorating that goes along with it makes me smile all season:) I can  never have enough of the Christmas spirit.

 Our shop may be small but it is big on personality! It is jam packed with vintage items and vintage Christmas. We have hundreds of ornaments, some vintage some hand made. All gorgeous. Something for every ones budget too:) The ornaments above are hand beaded from the seventies. Each one is amazing and unique. No two are alike. We loved putting up this vintage silver tree on a cornflower painted vintage chair and covering it with this fabulous collection.

 These one of a kind fabulous glittery red skaters came from Patrice of Sentimentally Me. Patrice turns everything she touches into pure gorgeousness!

                             Lots of little 'FOREVER TREES' from MAISON ST. GERMAIN. Some sit in vintage cups, others in vintage creamers. Always unique and festive.

 OK, who doesn't love a pink tree? Nicole decorated this tree with about 100 vintage ornaments. It came out so pretty you really need to see it in person.

 Of course our dress forms are dressed for the season as angels. This one has paper pattern flowers attached to her tutu.

 When you come into the shop, expect to spend a bit of time in here. You have to look up and down and under because we have to be creative about displaying things and work with the space we have. But that is half the fun. I know that when I go into a shop I enjoy just relaxing and looking for that favorite treasure to bring home. The thrill of the hunt:)

OUR FIRST SNOW

Hi everyone:)

Well, we had our first hurricane of the season and now our first snow. My heart and prayers go out to those who have suffered loss during these storms. We lost some trees, a fence and power for a few days but it pales to the loss that some people have suffered.I hope for a quick recovery for them all.

The weather has been quite busy here in New England. We only got a couple of inches of snow and it was so pretty. But I'm just not ready for it yet.

 I ran outside early this morning to shoot some of the snow in the gardens before it all melted.

      This is my favorite photo. Love the snow hat and scarf:)

 Under that snow on top of the pumpkin is evidence that the squirrels thought it was tasty. The took bites out of most of the pumpkins in the yard this year.

                My last 'pot head' that still needs to come inside so it doesn't crack.

This little statue has seen better days but I just think that he is so cute.  I will keep him around for a while longer.

Hi Everyone:)

Hugs to everyone who left comments, emails and called about the barn in the magazine:) I can't tell you how much fun it was to actually see it in print:)

I've said it before and I'll say it again, One of my favorite things to do in the shop is to change things around. Something gets changed every single week to keep it fresh.

When we bought this fabulous cupboard it was blue and spray painted in spots. It had three different kinds of contact paper on the inside. Nicole and I painted it and then Nicole scraped out all of the contact paper reminding me that she will need a manicure soon. lol Contact paper lasts forever!We then added antique glass knobs. The two middle doors open up and a shelf pulls out so that you can roll dough, mix a salad or display something on it. Underneath all of that contact paper was a wonderful pink paint. Of course we left that original!!!!!
It is a very sweet piece.

 We also just brought in this English pub table. It is square then the sides pull out the middle drops down and it looks like a great white farm table. Just look at those great turned chunky legs! The blue chairs and box look so pretty with white.

 Love this tool box painted a pretty teal. We filled it with wonderful plates and silverware.

 We also picked up this great antique breadbox. It has a shelf inside and is just the right amount of chippiness. I just think the two canisters as great with their glass knobs!

 This is our girly section. Lots of fun, soft colors to choose from. Oh! and there is my chair:)

 I love this chair as you know. I can think of so many places to put it in my barn!!!!!

 We also got in some wonderful leather suitcases. This is all that is left. Great for storage.

 I hung a child's chair on the wall. Perfect for when you don't have room on the floor for a side table.

                    Another little pretty number in soft creams. And a bowl of threads, so yummy:)

 We sell lots of burlap bags. We made our changing room curtains out of them. And customers are coming in to use them for shower curtains! How awesome is that?

 We sold our large iron stand to our friend Katie, so we needed to find a place for some of our vintage jewelry. Nicole put this together while I was out. Looks great! We have tons of vintage jewelry.

            Have I shown you this daisy chandy before? So pretty!

 Chippy white and pink architectural piece with hooks. Great for hats, cups, endless possibilities.

                         We even carry some great prints and trays.

              Love this candle holder and biscuit holder with it's pretty purple flowers.

                      Another pretty stained glass lamp.Love the color.

        Another pretty white chandelier. A great size for any room. It is sitting on a pretty slipper chair:)
                          

 THIS is Cappidemonte at its best. The detail that goes into these chandeliers is amazing and it is in perfect condition too!

                  I would put this over an island in the kitchen.
Love industrial mixed in with other styles;)

!!!!!!! IN PRINT !!!!!!!!

Hi everyone:)

I have some exciting news to share with you (Insert very loud scream here:). Remember when Fifi came to my house with Mark Lohman to photograph our barn last year? Well, it is now out in the 2013 issue of VINTAGE & VICTORIAN magazine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 

It was written by Rebecca J. Razo . She did a great job along with Fifi and Mark and  I love how it came out!!!  Can you tell that I am excited!

 I was in the store  in the magazine section when I saw it. I grabbed it and looked through it like a crazy woman:) When I found it I wanted to raise my arms and yell, "Hey everyone, my barn house is in this magazine. See?  This is me!!!!LOL And I would have done just that, except that no one was around in that dept. So I bought a 'few' of the issues and read the article in the car:) 

Thank you Fifi, Mark and Rebecca. You have made me one very happy lady:)

Hello :)

Hope you are all doing fine.  I've been very busy working on things for the shop. I wanted to show you two chairs that I redid.

 
LOVE this chair!!!! I would keep it in a heartbeat. That is the hard part of this business, parting with things that really speak to me. So I will keep my eyes open for another gorgeous chair like this:) I found this pretty color and knew right away that I would paint this chair with it.

 It started out black but I felt that  it needed to be redone to bring out the carved accents.

                        Gorgeous carvings,don't you think?

                               Gosh, I hope I can fit it into my truck or it will have to stay here;)lol 

And here is the other chair that I did. It has a pretty carved top to it and great legs.

I covered the seat with this gorgeous vintage fabric. Lots of pretty colors!

 I can think of so many places to put these chairs. As an extra in the kitchen, in the living room, bathroom to hold towels, bedroom to sit and put on your shoes......................................

 I am bringing them into the shop tomorrow!
