CHAIR TUTORIAL AND BLOGGERS' BODEGA

Hello Everyone:)

Thank you so much for your really sweet comments you left on my last post. You made a fun experience even better knowing you shared in the excitement with me:) You have no idea how much I appreciate you all!
Today I wanted to give you  a tutorial on how I made two chairs into my style. This is a very easy project to do, you can do it!
I am soooo happy with the results:)

I bought two of these chairs at the flea market this past weekend. They were $15.00 for the two. They had great bones and were already sturdy. It was a gorgeous day out and I couldn't wait to finish work so that I could get started working on them.

I put down my canvas drop cloth, gathered my brushes and one of my favorite colors of creamy white paint and was ready to get started.
The paint I had from a previous project. I bought it from ACE Hardware. It is called 'Distant White'.
I knew I would love it the minute I started to paint:)
After is was painted and the paint was dry, I took out my favorite tool, my Mouse Sander. I love this sander!!! I wanted a very distressed look on these chairs so I sanded a lot of the paint so the beautiful dark wood would show through.
After that was done. It was time to cover the seats. I had this wonderful hemp coffee bag with a gorgeous color wide stripe down the middle of it.  I cut the bag open down the sides.
Then I placed each cushion on it and cut enough fabric around it so that I can staple it to the bottom, cutting off the excess. Fergie was a great help holding the fabric down for me;)
I folded the fabric to make a seam so that the staples would hold it in place. Staples work best on this kind of fabric. If I had used tacks it would have come apart.  I love how the cushions came out, don't you????
Here is some detail of the heavy distressed look I gave to them. The carving is so beautiful.
                                                  A little photo shoot.

It was so easy to do and I am really happy with the results. I hope I have inspired you to take on a special project today. I enjoyed the beautiful weather listening to the birds in my garden and creating something I truly love for my kitchen.

FIFI STOPPED BY FOR TEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!YES FABULOUS FIFI!!!!

Hello Everyone:)

If you heard lots of laughter, woo hooing, felt the earth move from dancing yesterday, oh, it was just little ole me:)
Fabulous Fifi O'Neill and  photographer Mark Lohman came by yesterday morning to shoot our barn for some magazines.

 Can you believe it?!!!!!!
Fifi doing what she does best!

She is one of  the most genuine, sweet, smart and talented ladies I have ever met. She has such a patient and kind presence about her. And I love her sense of humor too:) Her sense of style is like no other. She can take things from around the house and create the most gorgeous vignettes. I learned so much from her. Thank you Fifi for this wonderful experience:) I will always remember how talented and sweet you were to me:)

Mark Lohman is another great talent. I have a feeling he can talk for hours about photography. He is so knowledgeable too. I also learned so much from him.  He has such an eye for taking beautiful photos. I love the friendship he and Fifi show towards each other too. He'll crack a joke and she'll turn away and smile. It is truly adorable. I can tell he loves what he does for a living. Thank you Mark:)
Oh and yes, my friend Lisa  stopped by too:) I was so happy that she did too. She is another very talented, sweet and fun person and I am so glad that we became such quick friends.
That is me. I see  that I really have to work on my arms this summer. lol Look at how cute Fifi is. Love her style so much.
And the shoot would not have been the same without my Nicole and the girls. Love them soooo much.
So happy that Don was able to be there too. He is my best cheerleader;)
So, even though I couldn't show you any photos from the shoot, I think that I can bet that you will love them as much as I do. I will let you all know which magazines to check out when the are ready.
Thanks for stopping by. You may still hear some loud laughter, woo hooing and feel the earth move for a few more days:)

MASTERBATH REDO

Hello Everyone:)

I have been busy redoing our Master Bath:) I decided to re wallpaper one wall with a really pretty chandelier wallpaper. I purchased the wallpaper on line from Steves Blinds & Wallpaper, Book 1585, patern x1ie7rd, page 7. The rest of the walls are faux painted.

A statue holds one of my vintage necklaces.
This is one of the chandeliers on the wallpaper. I fell in love with it. I think it has about 5 different chandeliers and they are all sepia toned.
This cherub holds a necklace and rosary beads. It hangs on a vintage, chippy, white architectural piece.
Here is where I put my dress form that holds all of my pins. There is also a small collection of perfume bottles. An old silver sugar bowl keeps my q-tips together.
This is how the wallpaper looks with the chandeliers placed on them. A ruffly shower curtain.

I love to hang frames up and them see what I can find to put into them. I bought this pretty picture from a flea market this Spring.
I have been collecting hand mirrors that I intend to hang on the wall some day. I think I have plenty to do that now;)
I added this wreath to an old cabinet and gave it a little white paint. It is just what it needed. I store cleaning aids for the bathroom in here.
Love the Prairie Slips that Nicole and I sell on Etsy. This one is mine with a vintage millinery flower pin.

These three silver hand mirrors are my favorites and I keep them on the vanity. I love how the middle ones mirror is so imperfect.
More of the wallpaper. I know wallpaper isn't for everyone but you have to admit, it is quite pretty;)
A sweet smelling yellow Rose from my garden. It makes me smile first thing in the morning to think that I have that beauty right outside of my front door:)
I bought this fabulous mirror for $10.00!!!!It matches a long one I have from my Great Grand Mother. I didn't see a reason to paint it. Some dark wood looks good in the bath with all of the light colors.
This is our antique claw foot tub. I used a shutter to hold candles, soaps and bubble bath.
I placed an old metal crib headboard behind the tub and added some vintage tins too. A small chandelier hangs from above.
Well, there you have it. My new old bathroom. Sometimes it is the smallest things that can make a room look brand new ....in an old way;) You know what I mean:) Thanks for stopping by. What are you up too? I'd love to know so that I can stop over and check it out:)

GOINGS ON IN THE GARDEN AND BLOGGERS' BODEGA

One quick question: Is anyone still having problems with blogger and leaving messages? I am:(

Hello Everyone:)

Well, it is Summer here in New England. We missed Spring this year but are definitely into Summer now.
I have been so busy in the garden and wanted to share:)

This is 'LITTLE MAMA'. She had two or her own eggs and sat on two eggs of the other girls' too. Hers hatched the other day and she is the proud Mama of two gorgeous chicks. Now, I have been told to take them away from her, that she would kill them. But I just didn't have the heart to do it. I watched her sit, day in and day out faithfully on not only her eggs but foster eggs for weeks. So I decided to let nature decide and left mama and her chicks alone. And you know what?  They are VERY HAPPY together. She is a GREAT MAMA and I am very proud of her. The other chickens aren't even bothering them. I know I will have to separate them when they are a little older because they are free range and I wouldn't want them to get lost. But for now everything turned out just fine:)

Angel statue  sits on the edge of our little pond outside of our front doors.
A twig bench to sit on to enjoy the flowers.
This birdhouse is home to little finches every year. I think they like the smell of Roses that surround them.
Herb garden. I have lots more to do in here but it is early yet:)
This garden art was made from one piece of metal that was burned out with a torch. We love it. Enlarge to enjoy it too.
More garden art...dancing in the Hostas.
                                                   Purple Foxglove
This is my favorite fountain that I turned into a flower holder.  Every year I plant something different in it. The older it gets the better it looks:)
These Roses are so pretty and prolific. It looks more like a tree than a climber.
Twig furniture being so rustic it fits perfectly in the garden.
These pink flowers are call Million Bells. The gentleman at the farm said that if I bring them in, in the Fall, they will flower inside all year for me! So I bought a yellow one too;)

I wanted movement in the yard, so we found these metal birds that move up and down as the wind blows. Just perfect!

An old blue ladder holds some pink and yellow flowers.

                                  Happy BLOGGER'S BODEGA.
