Hello Everyone:)
What have you been up to? I have been doing a good thorough cleaning of the barn. I want to get it done because when the weather stays nice I want to be out in the garden:)And with cleaning comes changing things up. You know how that goes;)
I finally put some vintage books and metal flowers under my old cloche. I found a silver tray that fits it perfectly.
Also washed ALL of the slipcovers. It was time to put on my flowery, ruffly slip in the solarium. I bought this one a couple of years ago from Surefit Slipcovers. I haven't seen any other ones with ruffles since then but wish they would carry them. They are just so pretty don't you think?
Living in a barn means that every little critter from outside finds its way inside. And the fact that we don't have screen doors and I leave the big doors open for fresh air doesn't help. We have had mice, snakes, flying squirrels, birds and gray squirrels. They must have heard that I used to own a pet shop;) You would never believe all of the birdseed I found under my sofas and chairs! The critters: CHIPMUNKS!!!!!!! Oh, they come in and eat my birds' food while sitting on the pond watching the Koi. When we make eye contact they chatter at me and run for cover. The cat is so used to me bringing home pets she doesn't even go after them. The dogs on the other hand chase them. But living with so many pieces of furniture they are able to hide so I have resorted to a nice medley of poison. Sorry PETA people but I just can't take their disrespectful chattering and their digging up my plants not to mention the seed that they leave everywhere. But I digress.
I bought this millinery flower with bows at the flea market. Don't pass them up even if they are all wrinkly. Just put them over the steam of a tea pot and you can actually watch them curl back into shape like magic.
Cleaned the library too. Books get dusty too.
Of course I always have company. I love doves and will always have them. They are the sweetest birds. I love their happy coo:)
Green rosy pillow with another pillow I covered with a pretty white vintage pillow sham. They work well together.
I always buy little books. Dictionaries, Bibles and Poems are three of my favorites.
I found this vintage table at the flea market about 3 weeks ago. I have been looking for one to put my houseplants on for my living room window. This one is perfect.
My granddaughters love this typewriter.
These pretty pillows were actually used for putting women's nightgowns in. I stuffed them and use them as pillows.
You know how much I love architectural pieces. I used these two little ones as book ends for some small books.
This is the old desk where I keep my collection of small books. The cubbies are just the right size.
Vintage green plant table.
Love this window . Potted plants in vintage McCoy pots. Next room that will get done is the kitchen:) Are you getting all of your major cleaning before the nice weather starts? Tell me all about it.
'Till next time......

Beautiful. I felt like I was turning the pages of a cottage magazine. Very nice, I love it. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Debra! My hubby and I were just talking about the thorough cleaning that our place is going to get this weekend. I like to fill our huge chalkboard with all of the jobs that I would like to see get done and then everyone starts picking which ones they want to do. Works like a charm! I just love visiting here, your home is beautiful, minus the little critter visitors, I'm kind of a scaredy cat ;) xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful things to look at in this post. You have such a way with vignettes. Your slip cover is awesome. It looks so fitted and perfect for your couch. LOVE it all!

OMG Debra you are the Queen of Garden Style Vignettes and Decorating! I must confess that I've saved some of your Barn House Photos to my favs for inspiration so I can look at them more often... I'm hopeful one day you might consider coming out with a Book?!?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and wishing me a happy Mother's Day, we'll be taking Nanna *my Mom* out today instead of tomorrow since she's wheelchair bound and its just easier without the crowds. Guess what else, beside my wonderful Belt created by my Friend Angela, came in time for Mother's Day? That fabulous Prairie Slip... oh I LOVE it... now to slenderize slightly so I can get into it. *winks* It's my weight loss inspiration piece right now. *LOL* Hey, whatever works, work it, right? Happy Mother's Day my Friend!!!

Cleaning, argh, no fun! Vignette, fun! Especially like the books in the basket. I have one similar I was wondering where it was the other day, you've reminded me to go search for it.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have doves. Are they alot of work?
Susanne.
You are welcome to come visit me any time and do some sprucing up!
ReplyDeleteOhh; so many lovelies to look at! I live on a little farmstead, and we never know what kind of critter is going to show up at OR IN our place either! We've found all the critters you named inside our home, too, except gray squirrels. But I would have taken one of those over the snake ANY DAY. ;)
